Walking along the riverfront you’ll come to the Titanic Memorial on Pier Head. As the home port of the RMS Titanic and the White Star Line, through this memorial Liverpool commemorates the heroism shown by the ship’s engineers, who continued in their posts to keep the ship afloat for as long as possible after being struck by an iceberg on 15 April 1912, killing 1,500 of its passengers. It also bears a plaque dedicated to the memory of the heroic Titanic musicians, who continued to play until the ship sank.
